Employers with 5-49 Employees:

  1. Are required to provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees by the end of 2020 (before January 1, 2021) – 2.0 hours for supervisors, 1.0 hours for non-supervisory employees, and then at least every two years. Thereafter,
    1. beginning January 1, 2021 non-supervisory employees must be provided at least 1.0 hours of sexual harassment prevention training within 6 months of hire and then at least every two years.
    2. beginning January 1, 2021 supervisory employees must be provided at least 2.0 hours of sexual harassment prevention training within 6 months of hire or promotion into a supervisory position and then at least every two years.
  1. Beginning January 1, 2021, seasonal, temporary and other employees (non-supervisory or supervisory) who are hired to work for less than six months, must be trained within 30 calendar days after their hire date or within 100 hours worked, whichever occurs first.
  1. If you provided training in 2019: Not to worry! You will not have to retrain for another 2 years.

Employers with 50 or More Employees:

  1. Are still covered under a law from 2015 (AB 1825) and therefore must continue to provide supervisory employees at least 2.0 hours of sexual harassment prevention training within 6 months of hire or promotion into a supervisory position, and every two years thereafter.
    • TPO Note: Continue to ensure your entire supervisory team stays on track for this requirement which will mean training in 2019 if the last training was in 2017.
  1. Are required to provide sexual harassment prevention training to non-supervisory employees by the end of 2020 (before January 1, 2021) – 2.0 hours for supervisors, 1.0 hours for non-supervisory employees. Why TPO only does “live” training: With decades of experience, we truly believe that in-person, “live” training with a qualified TPO Consultant/Trainer is the best way to ensure participant interaction and to most appropriately answer what are often sensitive topics and questions in “real” time. This also allows the training to be tailored to each client, understanding the uniqueness of every organization.
